There are few in the Brazilian leather industry who have the well-rounded experience David does. He is a graduate of Brazil's Leather Institute SENAI and has been in the industry for twenty years. His background includes working as a technician through all steps of the leather process. He has managed fresh hides into the beam house, tanning and retanning as well being responsible for finished leathers. He has worked with leather shoe, handbag and leather goods manufacturers. Since 2005, he has been an agent for leather exports, trading between many of Latin America's leading tanners and foreign buyers throughout the world. As head of Gerber Leathers, located in Brazil's tanning center, Novo Hamburgo, he is in continual contact with producers and buyers. This enables him a unique ability to understand and report on the Latin American raw hide, wet blue, crust, split and finished leather markets.
