Interesting idea on solving the drug problem. And very courageous for a conservative blog writer! I do think some form of legalization needs to be tried -- we have wasted too many resources on a failed policy of interdiction and criminalization. Randi has "drug-seeking" patients who try to con her into writing prescriptions for painkillers and narcotics. She disengages these patients but I am sure they find other doctors willing to write scripts for them. How are they any different than the user of illegal drugs on the street corner? Not sure the government should be in the business of dispensing and distribution -- I think they should resell to licensed resellers (similar to state liquor stores) and then tax it or sell it at profit -- then the $ should go to treatment facilities and reducing the deficit.
